Privacy Policy

1. Overview

FatwaAI (“we”, “us”, or “our”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use the FatwaAI mobile app and website (the “Service”), and how we use it.

In short: we collect analytics about crashes and normal product usage so we can keep the Service reliable and improve it. To generate answers, we also send your questions (and related context) to a third-party AI provider — Google Gemini — after you give permission in the app. We do not sell your personal information, we do not build advertising profiles from your activity, and our team does not read or review your messages.

2. Information we collect

We generally collect only what is needed to operate and improve FatwaAI:

• Usage analytics. Events about how the app is used in normal conditions (for example, which screens are opened, feature usage, and performance signals). This helps us understand what works and what needs fixing. These events are about product behavior — not a review of your private questions by our staff.
• Crash & diagnostic data. Technical logs when the app crashes or fails (device type, OS version, app version, and related error details) so we can diagnose and fix bugs.
• Service data you provide. Content needed for the app to answer your questions automatically and personalize the experience — for example questions you ask, tradition/madhhab preferences, appearance settings, and (on paid plans) conversation history stored for your device. This data is processed by the Service to generate answers; it is not monitored or read by our team.
• Device identifiers. Anonymous or pseudonymous device-based identifiers that allow usage without requiring an account to start.
• Purchase information. If you subscribe, payment processors (such as Apple or Google) handle billing. We receive subscription status needed to unlock plan features; we do not store full payment card numbers.

We do not otherwise collect sensitive personal profiles, contacts, precise location for advertising, or similar data unrelated to providing FatwaAI.

3. Your messages & third-party AI (Google Gemini)

When you ask a question in FatwaAI, your question text and related context are processed automatically so we can retrieve relevant fatwas from our curated corpus and generate an educational answer with sources.

What data is sent: the text of your question; your selected tradition and madhhab preferences; and, when follow-up questions are available on your plan, recent conversation turns needed for context. We do not send your payment card details, contacts, photos, or precise location as part of this AI request.

Who receives it: we send that data to Google to be processed by Google Gemini (a third-party AI service) solely to generate the answer returned to you. Google’s handling of data is also governed by Google’s Privacy Policy.

Permission: the FatwaAI app asks for your permission before sharing this data with Google Gemini. If you do not agree, the app will not send your questions to the AI service and you will not be able to use the ask feature. You can review related information anytime in the app and in this Privacy Policy.

Our team does not view, read, or manually review your conversations. We do not use your conversations to build advertising profiles or sell message content.

4. How we use information

• Provide answers grounded in our curated fatwa corpus and show sources (automated, including processing via Google Gemini)
• Apply your tradition and madhhab preferences
• Enforce fair usage question allowances and plan limits
• Monitor reliability, investigate crashes, and improve product quality
• Communicate about the Service when necessary (for example, support replies you initiate)

5. Analytics & crash reporting

We use analytics and crash-reporting tools (including Firebase / Google services where configured) to collect the usage and diagnostic data described above. These tools help us see both normal app behavior and failures — for example screen flows and crash stacks — not to have humans inspect the text of your questions. We configure them for product improvement, not for selling data to advertisers.

6. Sharing

We may share limited information with:

• Google (Gemini) — question text and related context, as described in section 3, to generate AI answers after you grant permission in the app
• Infrastructure and analytics providers (including Firebase) that process data on our behalf
• App stores / payment processors for subscriptions (Apple App Store, Google Play)
• Authorities when required by law

We do not sell your personal information.

7. Retention

We keep information only as long as needed for the purposes above — for example, while your history or subscription remains relevant, or for a reasonable period of analytics and crash diagnostics — then delete or anonymize it when no longer needed.

8. Your choices

• You can adjust tradition, madhhab, and appearance preferences in Profile
• Before any question is sent to Google Gemini, the app asks for your permission; without that permission, Ask will not share your data with the AI service
• You can stop using the Service and request deletion of associated data where applicable
• Device and OS settings may also limit certain analytics or tracking

9. Children

FatwaAI is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

10. Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised policy.
